Case Study
On inspection of the company’s site it found that mice were being transported in via raw materials pallets.
These mice were then reproducing and causing a plague of rodents throughout entire company’s production area. It was also noted that there was an extensive German cockroach infestation throughout the company’s production area. This infestation was costly as the previous pest management company had to return frequently.
Solution for Rodents;
- Carry out a thorough inspection to identify were the rodent activity is coming from and what product are attracting the rodents.
- Educate the client on what attracts rodent and how harbourage areas allow rodent ingress. Also to educate the client on all spill and harbourage areas are cleaned up quickly. The education on housing keeping is vital important as this can decreases rodent activity on site.
- Ensure that client is aware that all entry and exit point for rodents are proofed and restricted.
- As certain sites are restricted by regulations on what products can be used in production areas a plan is devised to use non-toxic baits to monitor the activity within these areas. Also products are placed to trap rodents that do enter the production area, these methods include the use of rodent glue boards and live traps with attractant.
- Due to the severity of the infestation found on site and the feed habits of the mice we put in place an aggressive baiting and glue board system during the first few months of service.
- In addition to the aggressive treatment in the first few months of service daily inspections were carried to monitor the progress of the rodent activity on site.
- Once the rodent activity has cease we continue to monitor the site on a monthly basis and treatments will be adjusted if needed.
Solution for cockroaches:
- Carry out a thorough inspection of the production areas to locate the harbourage and ingress area of the cockroach activity.

- Educate the client on what attracts cockroaches and how harbourage areas allow cockroaches to ingress. Also to educate the client that all spill and harbourage areas are cleaned up quickly. The education on housing keeping is vitally important as this can decreases rodent activity on site.
- As a non-residual chemical could only be used on site in the production area. We source a chemical that would be most effective for the control on cockroaches.
